Stuff that Used to Be on My TV

Here's some of the stuff that was on my TV back in the day:

Chow Daddy: The best 11 seconds on Youtube. Not even up for debate.

Carvel Ice Cream:

Robolar: Candy Bahz! That's right, Martians talk with a Boston accent.

Star Wars PSA: I remember watching this one all the time and thinking that R2 is a bad ass, screw C3PO. R2 should have been wearing a denim jacket with a bunch of OZZY patches on it.

New England Aquarium

Museum of Science

WSBK TV-38 Cartoon Line Up

Mr. Big Toyland in Waltham: Did anyone ever go to this place?

Movie Loft: This was the only place kids (who didn't have HBO) could see unedited movies on TV. Good stuff. Was it just me, or did it seem like Dana Hersey showed Duel and The Deer Hunter every other month? The best thing that guy did was the annual Three Stooges Marathon, especially that one year when you could get 3-D glasses at Store 24 and they edited a couple episodes with really crappy 3-D effects.

People Are Talking: Before Tom Bergeron went on to host every other show on TV, he hosted People Are Talking. When you stayed home sick from school, it was either this or soap operas.

Bruce Schwoegler: Once again, not up for debate: Schwoegler is the best Boston weatherman ever. Hey, Dick, the answer to that one is TRUE.

V66: V66 was something people kind of discovered on those old dial TVs. You'd be turning the dial through the UHF channels and suddenly you caught a glimpse of...music videos? Wait, we don't even have cable. good times? No, great times. V66 was better than MTV until the Home Shopping Network started taking over. Although, their office building - the baby-blue-and-pink-striped building near Rte. 9 and Speen St. in Framingham - had to be the ugliest landmark in the Commonwealth.
